For AWE 2022, we got on the main stage for the MetaTr@versal: A Day in the Life play! Additionally, Christi joined a panel to talk about immersive storytelling. We also joined a group of educators to tour the Stanford Virtual Human Interaction Lab, and the Santa Clara University Imaginarium. Then, we had a big AWE Afterparty with tech demos at our MetaVilla Airbnb.

We worked with author Helen Lundström Erwin to build out the café depicted in her historic novel, Sour Milk in Sheep’s Wool. Throughout the build process, we sent pictures back and forth with Helen and met up with her in VR to review details. She wanted to accurately capture the historical details – and so did we!

There is something intrinsically special about experiences that are situated within a spatial context. Whether it’s a group meetup, training simulation, or simply a journey to find creative inspiration, having a sense of spatial presence gives our minds more contextual cues to reference and draw upon later- making it easier to retrieve memories from our experiences.

Here is a world right out of author Helen Lundström Erwin’s Historic Novel: Sour Milk in Sheep’s Wool. We worked with Helen to recreate this café depicted in her novel, which serves as her main characters’ meeting space during the women’s suffrage movement. Now she can host readings of her own book inside of a setting from the book itself. Talk about “meta!”
