At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as we were all locked away in our homes wondering when we might ever socialize again, many found refuge in a brand new world of virtual connectivity and creativity through an obscure little app known as AltspaceVR. It is here that Christi and I would begin our incredible journey into XR design and creating immersive experiences. Altspace was our home for over three years, allowing us to find community and connection that will continue to surpass time (zones) and (physical) space. Thank you all for making so many memories with us! Now our journey continues…

The Final Message from AltspaceVR

The Final Moment of AltspaceVR

AltspaceVR is now gone. It is no more. It ceases to be. Monty Python references aside, we both decided to attend the final moments of the platform, as apparently did many others. In fact, we had not seen that many friends and connections logged on simultaneously since the heyday of the first BRCvr during a time when everyone was essentially locked down and could ONLY be online. A true testament to the love and devotion we all had to our favorite VR platform.

From Midjourney To 3D Mesh… Just Like That

Not in one fell swoop sadly. However the time saved on producing a quite beautiful low poly game artifact was substantial indeed! I set out earlier to create a panel of buttons for the interior of an elevator. Seems simple enough but then you begin researching styles across Google Images and there’s just too many to choose! Oh what to do?? “Save me, Midjourney!”

It was only a couple of weeks before thousands would gather to co-create the physical Black Rock City, when we got the call: “so we have this new project and we need a hand… can you make it to Burning Man this year?”
